St Andrew Potato Project

The Fenton United Methodist Church (FUMC) is an active participant in the St Andrew Potato Project. This Christian ministry is dedicated to gleaning America's fields and feeding Americ's hungry by providing healthy, nutritious produce to society's most vulnerable through innovative, cost effective programs like the Potato Project.

The Society of St. Andrew's Potato Project salvages truckloads of commercially unmarketable potatoes and other produce donated by members of the agricultural community.  The perfectly edible food is the delivered to agencies that serve the poor.  In 2007, 10.5 million pounds of potatoes and other produce was salvaged and distributed to America's hungry.

Each year the FUMC hosts a Potato Dinner and Silent Auction to benefit the St Andrew Potato Project.  In 2007, the FUMC donated $5,407 to the St. Andrew Potato Project.
