Church Membership Expectations & Inquiry

Church Membership:

  1. Our expectation is that church members actively participate and support the church through their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.
  2. All are welcome to present themselves for church membership, without bias.
  3. Because membership has many obligations and opportunities, all members shall search out the biblical and traditional importance of church membership.
  4. Members come from various church backgrounds.  All members are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to grow in faith and in ministry.
  5. Fenton UMC considers attendance through both worship and ministry opportunities as a foundation standard in determining our church's vitality.

How to Join:

  1. DETERMINE if Fenton UMC meets your needs for spiritual enrichment, fellowship and opportunities for Christian service by attending worship, feeling your way in through ministry opportunities or talking with a staff members.
  2. DECIDE if it is your desire to support FUMC with your prayers, presence, gifts and service.
  3. RESPOND to the invitation to membership by coming forward during a worship when the invitation is extended, or contact the church Membership Secretary at (810.629.2132) to arrange a time for joining.

Persons can join in any of the following ways:

  • Professing their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
  • Transferring membership from another Christian church community.
  • Confirming of their previous baptism.
  • At the conclusion of a Inquirer's Class.
